Upcoming Coaching Courses

Down GAA will be running a series of age specific workshops for coaches of players aged 4 to 16 years over the next 9 weeks. Much of the demonstration will be concentrating on Gaelic Football, however everything will be easily transferable to Camogie/Hurling. The workshops for u6 and u8 coaches will be completely non code-specific throughout so will definitely be suitabl...e for any coach to attend.

The programme format is as follows:

Workshops for Coaches of u14 and u16 Players:
9/4/2014: Workshop 1 - Technical Skills - Upping the Ante: Pressurized Skill Development
16/4/2014: Workshop 2 - Tactical Skills - Making Players Think in Possession
23/4/2014: Workshop 3 - Conditioning Skills - Methods of Developing Physical Fitness

Workshops for Coaches of u10 and u12 Players:
29/4/2014: Workshop 1 - Technical Skills - Innovative Coaching for Core Skill Development
6/5/2014: Workshop 2 - Tactical Skills - The Basic Principles of Attack and Defence
13/5/2014: Workshop 3 - Conditioning Skills - Intro. Bodyweight Exercises & Core Stability

Workshops for Coaches of u6 and u8 Players:
21/5/2014: Workshop 1 - Technical Skills - Developing Key Movement Skills
28/5/2014: Workshop 2 - Tactical Skills - Spatial Awareness and Basic Game Sense
4/6/2014: Workshop 3 - Conditioning Skills - Fun Games to Raise the Heart Rate

All 9 nine workshops will be held at St John's GAC Drumnaquoile, with the u14/u16 workshops commencing this coming Wednesday, 9th April. Each workshop will start at 7.30pm sharp and will last no more than 2 hours. Much of the content will be practical based, so coaches should come suitably attired to partake in moderate levels of activity. If possible I would ask that clubs forward the names of the coaches from their club who will be attending, however coaches can simply turn up on the night. Handout will be emailed out at the end of each three week block to coaches who attended ALL 3 sessions
